ApenApen is a project based design group from Oslo. We work with research, experimentation and production in relation to visual patterns. Our goal is to understand and revive existing patterns into new experiences.

A method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other stone. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric. Through several centuries, people have applied marbled materials to a variety of surfaces.

Our production
All of our marbled papers are unique, one-off originals created by us locally in Oslo. All works are marbled on Munken Print 150g. We ship our works world wide.

We offer a limited number of workshops to teach and demonstrate the technique, preparation for marbling. Maximum 15 people per group. Contact us for more information.
